Manor, Texas is located just outside the city limits of Austin on U.S. Hwy. 290 East, approximately 12 miles east of the University of Texas campus. The City of Manor was established in the mid to late 1800s and by the early 1900s was a hub for the central Texas cotton and railroad industries. Today, the Manor community has become a hub for the central Texas technology industry, with technology giants such as Applied Materials and Samsung, among others, listed on their tax role. The City of Manor has a population of almost 3,200 people; however a number of MISD students live within the city limits of Austin. Since 2003, the District has experienced an explosion of growth and enrollment for 2009-2010 reached 6,932 students up from 3828. Manor High School is a comprehensive public high school serving grades 9-12 and competes in UIL as class 4A.
